Associate professor in the Department of Neuroscience at the University of the Basque Country UPV-EHU. In 2013, she defended her doctoral thesis on “Natural History of Pediatric Multiple Sclerosis in the MS Population Cohort of Bizkaia” with a Cum Laude rating. Master's degree in Neuroimmunology from the Autonomous University of Barcelona - Vall d'Hebrón Hospital, 1st edition. In the field of management, Master's degree in Integrated Health Services Management (DSIS and EMDOS) from ESADE 2009-2011 and Master's degree in Health Management from Deusto Business School–DBS in 2020-21. His master's thesis on the Accreditation of the Neuroimmunology Unit of the H.U. Cruces OSI EEC by the Spanish Society of Neurology (SEN) received a grade of 9. He completed the Healthcare Innovation course at IE Business School 1018. In the scientific field, he has participated in pioneering research projects on MS such as the “Bilbao Protocol for the integration and communication of MS and primary care in Osakidetza,” work on special situations of MS patients: research on childhood and juvenile MS with three international phase III clinical trials underway, studies on the prognosis of MS and the influence of motherhood, mortality in the MS patient cohort, research on cognitive rehabilitation in MS with the University of Deusto, biomarkers in MS with the Achúcarro Institute, the “EM Sarea” project in alliance with the third sector with the implementation of rehabilitation with exoskeletons, different technological applications in MS, and the First Virtual Laboratory forrehabilitation in MS in Europe with ADEMBI - Basque Multiple Sclerosis Foundation.
She was a member of the advisory board of the European Committee for Treatment and Research in Multiple Sclerosis (ECTRIMS) and is once again a member of the Board of Directors of the Spanish Society of Neurology (SEN). She has received several awards and special mentions for the best scientific communications on multiple sclerosis (2006, 2013) from the Spanish Society of Neurology. She is a medical advisor to several patient associations. She carries out intensive outreach work to raise awareness of multiple sclerosis and other neurodegenerative diseases. In recent years, she has taken a special interest in the digital transformation of healthcare, value-based medicine, and e-health.
She is a researcher in the Neuroimmunology group at the Biocruces Bizkaia Institute.
