Dr. Alfredo Rodríguez -Antigüedad Zarranz is a referent neurologist in Multiple Sclerosis in the Basque Country. He studied Neurology at the Hospital 12 de Octubre in Madrid.
From 1987 to 2000 he worked as a neurologist at Cruces Hospital.
From 2000 to 2003 he held the position of Director of Health Planning and Evaluation of the Department of Health of the Basque Government.
In 2001 he presented his thesis ‘Multiple Sclerosis, retrospective and prospective clinical analysis of a population-based hospital series’ which was recognized with the highest grade cum laude.
Since 2003 he has been head of the Neurology Service at Basurto Hospital.
Vice-president of the Spanish Society of Neurology (SEN).
Vice-president of the FEEN (Spanish Foundation of Neurological Diseases).
Member of the Bioethics Committee, Research Committee and Scientific Committee of the SEN.
Coordinator of the Demyelinating Diseases Study Group of the SEN.
Member of the expert committee of the Ministry of Health and Consumer Affairs for the treatment of MS with interferon beta.
He has participated as principal investigator in more than 20 clinical trials and research projects.
